Now let me give you a few good reasons
to rent the first floor of this lodging
on the edges of the Loire
The
angevine sweetness
in Montjean-sur-Loire
Montjean-sur-Loire is 25 km away from Angers
towards
Nantes
The ledgendary “Angevine Sweetness” is not
an usurped
slogan.
Enjoying an ideal geographical location and
thanks to the Atlantic
benefits,
a mild climate, never too hot – and
reasonably wet, the Maine et Loire département ranks
among the twenty first départements of France and the
first in the half northern part of France as far as
the weather is concerned
:
a good average between sun, temperature and
rain.
The Loire
was classified in the humanity world inheritance by the
UNESCO
The lodging provides you with a direct access to the
Loire
Sight upstream
…
… and sight downstream of the Loire in front
of the
lodging.
Favourite river of the kings of France and
white terns, the Loire brought everything to the
Anjou region or almost everything.
It irrigated the province with precious materials, major
monuments,
new ideas and of course with sand alluvia favouring the
blossoming of flower and market-gardening cultures.
Prosperity but also overflows of a river often called “last
wild river in Europe”.
Whatever it looks like, something is sure : the Loire is
here at the top of its beauty. A beauty which was observed
by the highest international authorities : the Loire valley
was registered by the end of 2000 amongst the humanity
world inheritance by the UNESCO.
Anjou-Saumur
vineyard spreads along the river from East to West
and stretches on its southern edge around two rivers
: the Layon and the Aubance.
With 20 000 hectares, it is the most spread of the Loire
Valley.
Forming a mosaic of soils, there are 28 vine
appelations . 2 types of vines are dominating : the
chenin for the white wines, Coteaux du Layon,
Bonnezeaux and Quarts de Chaumen coteaux de
l’Aubance, Savennières... the Cabernet for the red
wines, Anjou, Saumur, Saumur-Champigny and for the
rosé wines, Cabernet d’Anjou, Rosé de Loire and Rosé
d’Anjou.
The soils are mainly schistous and argilo-limestone. Wines
of ceremony, festival wines, long guard wines, others to be
cool drunk under the arbours, the Anjou wines and the
Saumur wines go very well with all the desires. Around a
good wine, people feel like talking and the minds are
relaxing, and we are not only talking about the wine, we
are sharing about a
culture.
Fishing in the Loire - a gold mine for the
fishermen!
Montjean-sur-Loire
bridge
In Montjean-sur-Loire, the Loire is a real
gold mine for the fishermen. Its waters holds
numerous fish species : gardons, carps, pikes,
sandre, silures...
Everyone, from crackling fisherman to carnivore fisherman,
can appease his passion! Whether you are a beginner
fisherman or a competitor fisherman, the Loire in
Montjean-sur-Loire always reserves you some nice catches...
or surprises
!
A pike caught by Yves
Thoueille
Here is what I sincerely wish you
:
Fishing, as I did, in front of the house a wonderful pike
!
This pike used to be 1.08m long and weighed 16 pounds
!
A real delight to fish and to
cook.
The pike with a “beurre blanc” -- special sauce with
butter, échalottes...--
is a pure cooking wonder.
It is a delicious speciality of the edges of the
Loire.
